Strengthening the Disability Movement in Ghana, Phase I


Danish member organisations: Disabled Peoples Organisations - Denmark (DPOD), Danish Association of the Blind (DAB), Danish Association of the Physically Disabled (DAPD), Danish Deaf Association (DDA)
Partner organisations: Ghana Association of the Blind (GAB), Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD), Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD), Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD)
Duration: January 2010 - December 2013
Budget: DKK 20.303.031

Development objective:
Persons with disabilities enjoy equal rights in all areas of society in accordance with national and international legislation under constant monitoring of a strong disability movement.

Immediate Objectives:

  1. By the end of 2013 the disability movement has developed and increased efficient capacities of their organisations and members to advocate and lobby on all disability issues in a coordinated way at local and national level.
  2. By the end of 2013 the project organisations have developed capacity and strengthened the systems and structures for efficient implementation of their programmes.
  3. By the end of 2013 the project organisations have methods and practices in place to ensure flow of information and coordination within the disability movement, networking with relevant actors at local, national and international level.

 

Target groups:

DPOs in Ghana including; Ghana Association of the Blind (GAB), Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD), Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) and Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD).
