Uganda Community Brain Injury Support Project

Development objective:

In relation to the proposed project, the overall objective is: “Improved well being, equity and respect for rights and welfare of persons with acquired Brain Injury and their families.”


Immediate Objectives:

  1. By 2009, the self-help groups, as the foundation for community action on issues of PWABIs, are well managed and have the capacity to assess issues, create awareness, mobilise for collective action and advocate to local government and service providers to support the wellbeing and development of the PWABIs.
  2. By 2009, self help groups shall have established a functional advocacy frame work and community linkage to the relevant social services.
  3. By 2009 relevant people in the community, local and central government and service providers know about brain Injury, the challenges and rights of Persons with Acquired Brain Injury and are able to make positive interventional decisions on prevention and rehabilitation of persons with acquired brain injury.
