Improving the Livelihood of PWDs in the Acholi Region of Northern Uganda

Development objective:

To uplift the social and economic wellbeing of PWDs in Gulu, Amuru, Kitgum, and Pader.


Immediate Objectives:

  1. PWDs in target areas with improved opportunities to access services in health, education and employment by 2011.
  2. The subsistence income and livelihood opportunities for PWDs in the project area improved by 2011.
  3. The institutional capacity of the District Unions (DU) and sub-county associations enhanced to advocate for PWDs by 2011


Target groups:

Primary target group: 3,000 PWDs both male and female of all categories in the target districts, including 200 PWD leaders at sub county level and 40 PWD leaders at district level.

Secondary target groups: 90,000 PWDs both male and female of all categories in the target districts, local communities, community leaders, service providers and NGOs.
