Universal Access to HIV-AIDS Services for Persons with Disabilities in Uganda

Development objective:
The vulnerability of PWDs to HIV infection reduced and full / equitable access to comprehensive HIV/AIDS services for PWDs in Uganda secured.
Immediate Objectives:
- PWDs with improved opportunities to access and utilise HIV/AIDS services (prevention, care and treatment) by 2012
- Awareness for active participation of PWDs and the community on HIV/AIDS issues strengthened in Uganda by 2012
Target groups:
The primary target group for this project comprises PWDs: women, men and children with disability in the six selected districts. Approximately 20,000 persons who shall include PWDs and various stakeholders at both national and local level.
The secondary target group comprises the following: Local communities, community leaders (cultural and religious), HIV/AIDS/SRH service providers and organisations, policy makers, local government administration and technical officials.
