DPOD’s development work
On the international arena DPOD is strongly committed to the
advancement of equal opportunities for people with disabilities through
establishing strong, national, decentralised and democratic
organisations for them in the form of both individual and umbrella
organisations.
DPOD's main objective is to establish and
develop organisations which will ensure that people with disabilities
receive the opportunity to speak for themselves and influence society,
thus achieving a higher degree of respect or the rights of people with
disabilities and their integration into society.
In Ghana, India, Nepal, Philippines, South
Africa, Uganda
and Vietnam the
work is carried out in accordance with the guidelines for the Miniprogramme strategy, which outlines the focus and
work areas of DPOD and frames the economic possibilities of the
activities.
